L.A. Bound
it’s 3 in the morning
sitting at ihop sipping on coffee
wide-eyed and curious
outside the front door
a brother named diamond, he lives in the park in
playa del rey

we connected
the panhandler and the gypsy, chatting on a dark street
I hated to say goodbye
hello sunrise
whatcha gonna bring me, can I get a break please
still got that sparkle in my eye

l.a. bound. bound to the city
city of players, shakers and movers
beautiful liars, lovers and losers
wanna be gangsters, dealers and users
in a city that cradles your desire
l.a. bound

so many lonely people
riding the all-night bus with no destination
daylight come quick
sleeping on sidewalks
dreaming of a new day, the hustle’s got to pay
i just wanna be free

l.a. bound. bound to the city
city of players, shakers and movers
beautiful liars, lovers and losers
wanna be gangsters, dealers and users
in a city that cradles your desire
l.a. bound

the sun shines a little bit brighter here in cali
you vibrate a little bit higher here in cali
you sell your soul to stay alive here in cali
everybody’s shakes in this town
how you gonna get down

l.a. bound. bound to the city
city of players, shakers and movers
beautiful liars, lovers and losers
wanna be gangsters, dealers and users
in a city that cradles your desire

These Are the Days
i’ve been running like a bandit
for a half a hundred years
swimming in a salty ocean
of my mommy, daddy tears
can’t please everybody
when nobody really cares
everything is an illusion
it’s the universal plan

sometimes you go around in circles
till you know where you belong
sometimes you have to stumble, flying blind
just so you can find the way back home
there’s joy in the pain and blessings in the rain
these are the days of my life

my soul is still a waiting
for my mind to understand
had to play it like a joker
couldn’t let them see my hand
but a poker face won’t save you
when your heart’s a burning rage
take a deep breath now, just smile
and tell ‘em everything’s ok

sometimes you go around in circles
till you know where you belong
sometimes you have to stumble, flying blind
just so you can find the way back home
there’s joy in the pain and blessings in the rain
these are the days of my life

listen now, truth is talking
don’t say a word, universe is calling
what you want to believe won’t allow you to see

sometimes you go around in circles
till you know where you belong
sometimes you have to stumble, flying blind
just so you can find the way back home
there’s joy in the pain and blessings in the rain
these are the days of my life

Wake Up
the world is upside down insane
you watch it on your tv screen
in a daze, eyes are glazed, what a shame
your doctor pushes poison pills
you wonder why your pains and ills
never fade. you complain but you won’t change

what if you knew you had one year left to live
would you change your life, would you change your mind
what if you knew you were so much more than this
would you leave your pharma-junkie comfort zone behind

wake up, shake off the cobwebs
clear the blinders, taste the water
wake up, all of you sleepers
chemically brain dead, get up and get set
wake up, wake up and two step
we got a new dance, free-thinkers jiggy
wake up, wake up, wake up, open your eyes

you work a job that you can’t stand
a three-piece suit you’re a company man
pay to play, day to day, you’re still a slave
your brother’s homeless on the street
he never has enough to eat
can’t help today, got bills to pay and no spare change

what if you knew you had one year left to live
would you change your life, would you change your mind
what if you knew you were so much more than this
would you leave your pharma-junkie comfort zone behind

wake up, shake off the cobwebs
clear the blinders, taste the water
wake up, all of you sleepers
chemically brain dead, get up and get set
wake up, wake up and two step
we got a new dance, free-thinkers jiggy
wake up, wake up, wake up, open your eyes

ding dong
bells are ringing
you’re sleeping on it
get your head around it
they’ve got your number
you’re in a slumber
step away, step away, step away from it
reload the matrix
wake up and face it
take the red pill
it’s a bitter pill
the red pill, red pill, red pill, red pill

wake up, shake off the cobwebs
clear the blinders, taste the water
wake up, all of you sleepers
chemically brain dead, get up and get set
wake up, wake up and two step
we got a new dance, free-thinkers jiggy
wake up, wake up, wake up, open your eyes

Dreamer
don’t know where i’m going
or who i might see
but i’m moving on now
destiny has called me
taking my chances
with stars in my eyes
impossible dreams of mine
always been a dreamer
my soul is still on fire
a blessing and a curse
the dream that will not be denied
so don’t you stop believing
that one day you will fly
dream on, dreamer, all the way to the sky
got a one-way ticket
my bags are at the door
destination inspiration
won’t see me ’round here no more
a new life and a new song
will fill up my heart
all the way to the top
a dream will take you far
always been a dreamer
my soul is still on fire
a blessing and a curse
the dream that will not be denied
so don’t you stop believing
that one day you will fly
dream on, dreamer, all the way to the sky
if it’s love you need, go get it
anything your heart desires
if you dream it you can be it
don’t let nobody tell you otherwise

Redemption
she left her baby in a shelter
walked away from everything she’d ever known
said nobody else could save her
crying tears from the hole inside her soul
she sells her body for the pipe, now
it numbs the pain but every day she wants to die
living in dark and dirty places
sometimes in the smoke she sees her baby’s eyes
she hitched a ride to the river
nothing but a black dress on
wanted to start all over
make it right, find a way to go on
and she said…
gonna lay down in the river
and pray for forgiveness
for every wrong i’ve done
every heart i’ve broken
redemption, resurrection will be mine
she came up hard, mama was a junkie
daddy only came ‘round once in 13 years gone by
she laid down with the first boy who asked her
and too many more, til she knew she had a life inside
she birthed him in an alley,
couldn’t leave him in a dumpster
she walked a few blocks further
and went inside the shelter
she laid him on a cot and stepped away
nobody saw her
she ran and ran and ran until she could go no further
that was 15 years ago
gonna lay down in the river
and pray for forgiveness
for every wrong i’ve done
every heart i’ve broken
redemption, resurrection will be mine

Living on the Edge
drowning in the day to day
nothing matters tired of playing this loser’s game
broke and tattered
feelin’ unrehearsed and unsteady, but you’re ready
four walls, boxes and cages making you crazy
this place is much too small for you and your big plans
you come with the rising sun
got the whole world in your hands
you need to find another timeline
this one’ s dying out
need to shimmy in a new direction
lay your burden down
living on the edge, running scared
you’re not the same, no
living on the edge, running scared
now who’s to blame
take one step at a time, maybe head up northside
i’m travellin’ real light, got to keep my options open wide
tired of empty days, staring in space, swimming in nothing
i feel the need to fly high
this place is much too small for you and your big plans
you come with the rising sun
got the whole world in your hands
you need to find another timeline
this one’ s dying out
need to shimmy in a new direction
lay your burden down
living on the edge, running scared
you’re not the same, no
living on the edge, running scared
now who’s to blame
sometimes, gotta hold your breath and jump in the water
sometimes, gotta tear down walls with your bare hands
sometimes, you’ve got to dream bigger, make a better plan
sometimes, you’ve got to open up and fly
living on the edge, running scared
you’re not the same, no
living on the edge, running scared
now who’s to blame

Right There
you must have had it in a real bad way
to make you think that you’ve got to go it alone
somebody broke your heart
burned it, turned it into bitter stone
must have had some hard times
backbreaking soul-shakin blues-making days
to make you give up on the love
and go down there in that lonely, lonely place
when the sun comes up in the morning you’re gonna smile
you’re gonna feel good and know your heart is safe and sound
and when i see you look my way, i know you believe me, yeah
everything’s gonna be just fine
and i’m gonna be right there
in the morning, i’m gonna be right there
i’ve been watching you climbing walls
desperado sick and tired of the pain
sad people and sad lives, bringing you down
it gets so hard to maintain
shake off the dirty water
get the misery and mayhem out from under your skin
no matter what they did or said to you
you’ve got to dance your dance again
when the sun comes up in the morning you’re gonna smile
you’re gonna feel good and know your heart is safe and sound
and when i see you look my way, i know you believe me, yeah
everything’s gonna be just fine
and i’m gonna be right there
in the morning, i’m gonna be right there

Falling
i’ve been chasing things elusive
did you catch my drift in mellow
got a tasty new obsession
and he’s such a happy fellow
i see tomorrow in his eyes
so delightful, see me smiling?
bittersweet the morning afters
taste a little bliss tonight
falling into him
i found myself
melting into heaven
colors everywhere
brighter, bolder
everything is different now
anticipating all that’s new and rare
falling into him
oh, still waters do run deep
like heavy cream on my peaches
strong and sweet this brown elixir
he is all i’ll ever need
when the day is dimming down
count my blessings two and four now
click my heels three times
i am home and i am loved
falling into him
i found myself
melting into heaven
colors everywhere
brighter, bolder
everything is different now
anticipating all that’s new and rare
falling into him

Falsettos in Stilettos
falsettos in stilettos
nobody knows who you be
but the boys with bravado
will lay you down precisely
and take hold of your soul
you make it so easy
sistergirl, know your world
from the blackboard to the director’s board
the umbilical chord is cut
with precision
but you missed the punch line
jumped in front of the line
cause you think you deserve it
but you ain’t earned it
you’re just riding on the coattails
of those who came before
they gave more
they sacrificed for the cause
you merely aspire to shock and awe
rock the bells and all
fakeness begets straw
bringing cupcakes to battle
your slip is showing
sit down

This is My Dream
in the middle of nothing
lost out to sea i was
reaching for something better
to still the rage inside of me
when everything crumbled
i came undone, i was
ready to give up the battle
let the ocean take me down
that voice in my head said
baby girl don’t be afraid
you are a diamond light
never, never let it fade away
you can move mountains
raise the dead and such, oh oh
you can fly so high above
dream it and make it so
this is my dream
to face the new day with the eyes of a sage
to come through the storm
my head in the clouds, laughing out loud
this is my dream
fearless and fly i will live free or die
this is my dream, my dream
no matter how twisted the journey
you hold your head high
and when this world weighs on you heavy
still your heart and settle down
cause no one can hurt you
when your love is alive, no
you have all that you need within you
and sprit will ever guide
that voice in my head said
baby girl don’t be afraid
you are a diamond light
never, never let it fade away
you can move mountains
raise the dead and such, oh oh
you can fly so high above
dream it and make it so
this is my dream
to face the new day with the eyes of a sage
to come through the storm
my head in the clouds, laughing out loud
this is my dream
fearless and fly i will live free or die
this is my dream, my dream

Shattered
he said he was the one who’d always have my back
he said i was the one he loved all day and night
but lately i’ve been feeling he’s got something on his mind
now he’s walkin’ out the door
shattered
what do i do now
shattered
he was everything to me
shattered
my whole world is upside down
shattered like a broken bottle on a dead end street
i let him in that place i thought his heart was true
gave all i had to give was it all one big lie
sometimes you think you’ll make it through and then the music dies
fading into nothingness
shattered
what do i do now
shattered
he was everything to me
shattered
my whole world is upside down
shattered like a broken bottle on a dead end street
tell him not to go away
tell him to come home
tell him i don’t want him to go away
no, no, no, no, no
shattered
what do i do now
shattered
he was everything to me
shattered
my whole world is upside down
shattered like a broken bottle on a dead end street

I Be
i be the secret that you never told your mama
i am the quicksand that you sink in with your drama

i fill the space between the daytime and the lonely
i be the queen that you forgot how to love
i be the rebel goddess calling you in your dreams
i be the captain of the ship you capsized midstream
i’ll take a broken heart and make it whole with straight seams
i am the the one that you run from
i be the moonshine in a world of cabernets
i be the sweet vine that you cut down in rage
i take the bad rhymes and make em sound like heaven
i be the whole note but you be half steppin’
i be the freestyle that makes you freeze midframe
i am the wet and wild that you could not tame
i pick up the pieces and start a brand new game
i am invincible, love is my name
tell me how it is
and i’ll tell you what i see
if you could handle this there’d be no need to deceive
candles are burning, moonlight is free
i be the one in your dreams
there is nothing sweeter than a blessing in disguise
and a fountain keeps pushin even when the well is dry
the one you think is on your side is just biding time
waiting for you to slip up so they can slide but i’m wise
i know that you were never mine
still…i be the one in your dreams

It Begins Tonight
dreams are calling
speaking loudly
time is here now
don’t delay
let the chains fall
from ‘round my ankles
while bits and pieces
of my shadow fade way
sleepy eyes wide
bring the daylight
there is no joy like
what is in me now
yesterday i
felt the wind blow through me
saw the new me
drawing circles on the wall
clouds surround my shimmer
but this story has no end
gonna find my own way
to the woman that i am
step into the white light
the song will be my guide
gonna find my own way
it begins tonight
dreams are calling
i am happy
lead me on
cause i’m knee deep
in this epiphany
bring the symphony
play the way for me
heaven helps those
who find new hope
live from the heart
don’t deny the fire
all that is you
beautiful and true
you know that you are
clouds surround my shimmer
but this story has no end
gonna find my own way
to the woman that i am
step into the white light
the song will be my guide
gonna find my own way
it begins tonight

Free Yourself (Freedom is Bliss) – redux
i followed you into cold dark tunnels
nothing but faith to guide my steps
i’m taking a detour, looks like summer
light is so bright it blinds my past
i’m diggin the new road yesterday’s over
gonna dream bigger i’m fierce today
you still simmer in old stale water
come out come out come go my way
freedom is bliss
love is the key to all your power
find it inside
open your heart, your mind will follow
love is alive
everything else is static matter
free yourself, your Self, free
funny how all the clocks keep ticking
even though time is standing still
hanging out at the crossroads waiting
don’t you know heaven is deep within
water runs from a secret fountain
bubbling up with joy and light
you can say you are not enlightened
but you can’t deny it feels alright
freedom is bliss
love is the key to all your power
find it inside
open your heart, your mind will follow
love is alive
everything else is static matter
free yourself, your Self, free

Get Back to the Love
been through the maze of love
dazed and silly phase of love
don’t want to compromise
run and hide, call your bluff
slippin kissin trippin missin, cold dismissin love
and when it rushes in
you open wide and see
the love that you thought you would never have
you woke up and found on your doorstep
you and i, we’re gonna work this
work this thing on out
gonna get back to the love
all the lines in the sand
drawn with hands of time you wasted
finally came around
figured out you don’t know a damn thing
yesterday wore you down like bones in the ground
and the blues you cried
and when it rushes in
you open wide and see
the love that you thought you would never have
you woke up and found on your doorstep
you and i, we’re gonna work this
work this thing on out
gonna get back to the love
the love that you thought you would never have
you woke up and found on your doorstep
you and i, we’re gonna work this
work this thing on out
gonna get back to the love

Dance
i know you’re scopin’
you wanna come back
you disconnected now you’re feeling regret
no broken heart here
no tears to cry
can’t waste a minute trippin over your lies
i’m gonna dance in the kitchen
dance on the roof
now that you’re gone, the sun is shining brand new
gonna dance in the backyard
dance on the bed
you walked out the door and now the party’s started
don’t need your money
don’t need your stress
don’t need you trying to convince me i’m less
i gave my love true
i love you still
i’m not to blame for all the sadness you feel
don’t take for granted
never disrespect
you hurt someone, you hurt yourself, it’s like that
your heart is cold now
locked in distress
find your own way i wish you happiness, no less
i’m gonna dance in the kitchen
dance on the roof
now that you’re gone, the sun is shining brand new
gonna dance in the backyard
dance on the bed
you walked out the door and now the party’s started

Stand Up
they want to vaccinate your babies
give em drugs that make em crazy
and you stand by
cops are killing folks with tasers
it barely makes the papers
and you stand by
they can lock you up for thought crimes
put fear inside your mind
and you stand by
half your money goes to taxes
working day to day in shackles
and you stand by
there’s poison in the water
mad cows go to slaughter
and you stand by
out there slaving for a dollar
when it’s barely worth a dime
and you stand by
people can’t afford shelter
while the wealth is slowly transferred
and you stand by
mass corruption on the inside
tv news feeds you lies
and you stand by
politicians try to sway you
while the corporations play you
and you stand by
they’re fighting wars of conquest
killing innocents for profit
and you stand by
wake up wake up this is all wrong
don’t know what to do when you feel so small
liberate yourself and change will come
stand up stand up one by one thy will be done
the system is not working
time to change the way you’re thinking
stand up
stop hating on your brother
we’re the same love one another
stand up
stop supporting corporations
respect the earth and nature
stand up
soldier stop your killing
put your gun down and go home
stand up
feed the hungry help the homeless
everyone deserves to be blessed
stand up
teachers give the children knowledge
not the state sponsored bullshit
stand up
throw out your television
step outside of the illusion
stand up
get to know your neighbors
give a smile to a stranger
stand up
we are the change that’s needed
seek and you will find it
stand up
stand up for justice
stand up for peace
stand up for freedom
stand up

You’re Not Alone
i don’t want to fight your battles, toe to toe with your dismay
chasing down the demons bandits come to break the chains
darkness in the daylight, castles melting one by one
who are you, where did you come from
heaven is in danger bound by rules of men who kill
finding no easy ruse you choose the bitter red pill
what if we’re all crazy oh the truth is so sublime
who are you running from this time
i recognize the fear that you step through (you’re not alone)
i feel your pain, the pain is mine too (you and i are one)
a free fall is easy just close your eyes and know
you’re not alone
i knock on the door and you say go away just let me be
so many other souls to save don’t waste your time on me
the madness is subsiding, all the doors are open now
you wanna get out but you don’t know how
take the hand i offer, you and i are heaven bound
stumbling through the shadows there are diamonds to be found
counting on the good days will get you through the bad
you never miss what you never had
i recognize the fear that you step through (you’re not alone)
i feel your pain, the pain is mine too (you and i are one)
a free fall is easy just close your eyes and know
you’re not alone
when destiny awakens full of wonders to behold
she’ll answer every question and you’ll know which way to go
but what if we’re all crazy?

Rise!
rain come down on me
wash away the stain on my memory
such a heavy burden on this journey
i’m thirsty, choking on broken dreams
spent desires tearing at me, wanna lose me
and live in the song
rise
rise…from here
rise…like a phoenix from the ashes i will
paid the price you see
always searching for the way back home to me
no more crying, no more lying to myself
finally ready to be who i truly am
baby girl is stronger, emptiness no longer
i live in the song
rise
rise…from here
rise…like a phoenix from the ashes i will
too many days, too many nights wasted away
drowning the pain in smokey haze engaged in battles with myself
i’m not the same the script is changed no one to blame won’t hurt again
it’s all so clear from here
rise
rise…from here
rise…like a phoenix from the ashes i will
been lost too long now, ready to go home now
i’m living from my soul now lead me on
out of the abyss. i never wanted this
been lost too long, too long
rise
rise…from here
rise…like a phoenix from the ashes i will

Religion
are you looking for a savior
are you looking for the promised land
would you die for your religion
is your jesus a brown man
are you guilty of original sin
has your soul been saved
you don’t have to sit in judgement
cause i don’t see it your way
religion
don’t give me your religion
cause i believe in only one truth, one light, one love
no religion
do you seek the truth
i hear you tellin’ white lies
you speak of revelation
you could be satan in disguise
how many days has it been
since your last confession
do you really know your maker
or is it just an unholy obsession
religion
don’t give me your religion
cause i believe in only one truth, one light, one love
no religion
jews and gentiles, roman catholics
methodist, baptist, jehovah’s witness
muslim, lutheran,presbyterian
protestant, buddhist and latter day saints
(repeat)
religion
don’t give me your religion
cause i believe in only one truth, one light, one love
no religion

Sweet
you are the only one
that’s ever done it for me
you impeccable speciall one
caught the dreamer in me
hear you in every key
speak to me in harmony
take me where i need to be
places i’ve never been
and the way that i
the way that i feel
the way that i feel right now
sweet
in my hour of loneliness
you manifested on in
in the darkest despair
i was reaching and you took my hand
i hear your voice and i glow
all warm and yellow and free
like a fool i lose my cool
when you get cozy with me
and the way that i
the way that i feel
the way that i feel right now
sweet
and i’m crazy about you baby
crazy, crazy, crazy with mad love for you

Square One
i thought we had an understanding
thought it was understood
that when it came time for the revolution
we’d be one for all and all for good
well, somebody got it twisted
flipped for the dollars and bling
a little too cozy with the payment plan
trading souls for empty things
i don’t hear you, what ya saying
the same old beat you keep playing
you chit chat, this and that, what have you done
seems like we go ‘round and ‘round
we build it up and we tear it down
keep on slipping back to square one
call me a dreamer if you want to
i still hold the dream for sure
and better days we’re gonna get to
without the thieves and their politician whores
and if you look into the mirror
beyond your empty stare
maybe your soul will speak to you
wake you up from this nightmare
i don’t hear you, what ya saying
the same old beat you keep playing
you chit chat, this and that, what have you done
seems like we go ‘round and ‘round
we build it up and we tear it down
keep on slipping back to square one
all the colors of the rainbow, sinking in the same boat
monopolized and traumatized, under control
chasing idols and fakeness everywhere you go
you don’t know, you don’t want to know
i don’t hear you, what ya saying
the same old beat you keep playing
you chit chat, this and that, what have you done
seems like we go ‘round and ‘round
we build it up and we tear it down
keep on slipping back to square one

Higher Road
you like the purple pills and potions
the grave is waiting for your entrance
fading fast in the end
you spend your days chasing dollars
spend your nights in twisted pain
counting loose change
you don’t need no stocks and bonds no credit card no bonus points no fancy car
no million dollar house that ain’t a home
you don’t need no blackberry no flat screen no babies that you never see
what you need is a higher road
i don’t want to seem pretentious
only speaking from my heart
i see it tearing you apart
that void you fill with useless things
will remain unchanged
until you see who you are
you don’t need no stocks and bonds no credit card no bonus points no fancy car
no million dollar house that ain’t a home
you don’t need no blackberry no flat screen no babies that you never see
what you need is a higher road
you don’t need no stocks and bonds no credit card no bonus points no fancy car

Stay
i don’t want to be your everything
i won’t ask for more than you can give to me
i only want to love you
the right way
nothing i won’t do if only you will stay
stay with me tonight
why don’t you stay with me tonight
stay with me tonight
stay with me tonight
funny how sometimes your dreams take flight
and what was out of touch you’re somehow holding tight
i only want to show you
a fantasy
i’ll give you so much more if only you would stay
stay with me tonight
why don’t you stay with me tonight

The Weave
daddy doesn’t love me
he never really knew me
still trying to judge me
but he don’t understand
he says i can’t keep a man
said i’m just like my mama
but he don’t see that i’m more like him
who’s right, who’s wrong
always in the middle
i’m not the one
don’t wanna be that, no
oh oh what a tangled web we weave
we hide behind tall walls and silent screams
all i ever wanted
momma couldn’t give me
daddy couldn’t show me
somebody bring the love
momma’s gone crazy
nothing i can do, see
ain’t been where she’s been
but i’ve seen her tears
oh oh what a tangled web we weave
we hide behind tall walls and silent screams
thought i had it all together
sho nuff a free ride
skipping through stormy weather
with saturn on my side
nobody had to tell me
but the veil’s been lifted
things get twisted, karma’s killin
when you hide behind
oh oh what a tangled web we weave
we hide behind tall walls and silent screams
all i ever wanted
momma couldn’t give me
and daddy couldn’t show me
somebody bring the love
oh, oh
what a tangled web we weave
so easy to believe
deception in the web, tangled
believe
patterns shifting in the colors
believe
the weave will set you free
believe
you’ll give and you’ll receive
the love, in the weave
oh oh what a tangled web we weave
we hide behind tall walls and silent screams
all i ever wanted
momma couldn’t give me
and daddy couldn’t show me
somebody bring the love

Babylon is Falling
concrete jungle, nighttime streets
looking over your shoulder, better be discreet, yeah
beware of the shadows, looks can kill
on every corner, they’re selling ten cent thrills
you’re not the first one to see the sign
it’s right on the front page, between the lines
who can you turn to? no escape
living in babylon you fall from grace
i’ve taken all i can take
it’s all one big mistake
maybe i’ll run for president, change the world
but that’s not the way to go
cause you and i both know
we’re living in babylon and babylon’s falling down
little babies cry, born in a bad time
lost in the middle, who’s gonna show them the way
everybody’s looking in the wrong direction
chemical dependency won’t erase your pain
and the boy in the streets, one of a million
packin’ automatics, that’s what he needs to survive
but he can’t even read, teacher’s not teachin’
no education, future looks dark as the night
i’ve taken all i can take
it’s all one big mistake
maybe i’ll run for president, change the world
but that’s not the way to go
cause you and i both know
we’re living in babylon and babylon’s falling down
rockabye baby in the tree top
ooh when the wind blows the cradle will rock
i’ve taken all i can take
it’s all one big mistake
maybe i’ll run for president, change the world
but that’s not the way to go
cause you and i both know
we’re living in babylon and babylon’s falling down

Gangsta Boy
he’s the one they fear because he wears the colors
he’s the one they lock away so callously
but he is only a reflection of a dead world
acting out the truth of their lies and deceit
packin’ shiny guns that they make and deliver
pushing poison drugs just like their m.d.’s
what a shame that only he is made to suffer
they should stand behind the bars while he flies free
gangsta boy
pain, it comes in every color
gangsta boy
don’t be a slave to what you hate
gangsta boy
we need you to lead the revolution
wake up and recognize before it’s too late
this world needs you my brother, step on up
came up with nothing seeking something to fill the empty
no love around so he gets down with hoods and sets
brotherhood is strong but the load is very heavy
killing his own, watching them die, he won’t forget
gangsta boy
pain, it comes in every color
gangsta boy
don’t be a slave to what you hate
gangsta boy
we need you to lead the revolution
wake up and recognize before it’s too late
(repeat)
it’s the military industrial complex
it’s the prison system
it’s the political system
it’s the educational system
it’s the financial system
it’s the so-called church
it’s the new world order
know your enemy
choose your battles wisely
gangsta boy
pain, it comes in every color
gangsta boy
don’t be a slave to what you hate
gangsta boy
we need you to lead the revolution
wake up and recognize before it’s too late
(repeat)
